What Happened?
On 1 December 2025, the RBI released data on India’s balance of payments for the second quarter of 2025-26. Merchandise exports were USD 109.4 billion and imports were USD 196.8 billion, producing a trade deficit of USD 87.4 billion. Net services and other transfers partly offset that deficit, leaving a current account deficit of USD 12.3 billion.
